Francisco Zúñiga (1912-1998) was born in San José, Costa Rica in 1912. in 1936 Zúñiga went to Mexico where he learned methods of sculptural production including metal smelting and stone carving and polishing. He has been interested in and concentrated upon depictions of the female form with an emphasis upon cultures indigenous to Mexico and Mid-America.
